An emergency demonstration organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) and its allies took place outside the UK Parliament on Monday, drawing thousands of protesters demanding urgent action to protect Gaza’s healthcare workers and medical facilities amidst the ongoing conflict.
The rally, which was sparked by reports of escalating attacks on Gaza’s healthcare system, called for immediate intervention from British MPs. Organizers reported that the demonstration was a response to the mounting destruction of medical infrastructure in Gaza, including the recent obliteration of Kamal Adwan Hospital, which housed a neonatal unit, and the ongoing siege of the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza. Protesters also highlighted the forced evacuation of medical staff and patients as well as the targeting of Palestinian healthcare workers, with many killed or detained.
Prominent figures at the rally included Members of Parliament Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell, as well as healthcare professionals and civil society representatives. The rally’s core message echoed widespread condemnation of Israel’s actions in Gaza, particularly attacks on hospitals and healthcare workers, which some claim may constitute war crimes under international law.

Ben Jamal, director of the PSC, denounced the UK government for enabling what he described as “war crimes” by providing arms and political support to Israel. “To attack and destroy hospitals, to target and kill medical staff and patients within them, has no possible justification and is completely unacceptable,” Jamal stated. “These are crimes for which Israel will have to answer in world courts, but the UK government must also face its own reckoning for shamefully aiding and abetting Israel’s carnage.”
