Labour Indians Host Event

The Labour Party hosted a dinner event during the Conference in Liverpool, attended by key figures including Indian High Commissioner Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds, and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Migration and Citizenship Seema Malhotra.

Indian High Commissioner Doraiswami praised the strength of India-UK relations, expressing optimism that a future Labour government would elevate the partnership to new heights.

“UK-India relations are in robust health and set to grow even stronger,” the High Commissioner said. “Three key factors will drive these ties forward: First, growth. India is now the second-largest investor in the UK, with 960 companies operating in the country, contributing to job creation and GDP growth. Second, research and innovation. India’s advancements in research and technology are benefiting multiple sectors in the UK. Third, strategic cooperation. Foreign Secretary David Lammy’s recent visit further strengthened Indo-UK ties. Both nations are collaborating in seven key technological sectors, including cyber security and artificial intelligence.”

He further emphasised that “the UK-India partnership is focused on promoting global peace and prosperity, grounded in shared values such as democracy, diversity, and respect for international norms. The century-old ties between the two nations will continue to grow stronger.”
