The head of the Metropolitan Police’s Black Police Association (MBPA), Inspector Charles Ehikioya, has been accused of participating in a group chat where offensive messages were exchanged, including racist jokes and a video mocking Katie Price’s disabled son, Harvey.
Ehikioya, who serves as the chair of the MBPA, is facing serious allegations of misconduct after being part of a chat with former officer Carlo Francisco. During this time, messages with misogynistic, homophobic, racist, and pornographic content were allegedly shared. These incidents, spanning from 2017 to 2020, were brought to light during a misconduct hearing at Palestra House in London.
The accusations include the sharing of over 7,000 messages, with some deemed by the Metropolitan Police’s representative, James Berry, as “disgraceful and inappropriate.” Ehikioya is also accused of failing to report the troubling content. Among the messages, it is claimed that he sent an image of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner alongside a comment aimed at Muslims, which was deemed offensive.
Another disturbing allegation involves Francisco, who reportedly shared a video featuring a person wearing a mask of Harvey Price’s face while snorting white powder, with the person behind the camera encouraging the act.
Francisco had previously been found guilty of gross misconduct in 2023 for sharing similar offensive messages, including those targeting Harvey Price, who has Prader-Willi syndrome and is autistic. Katie Price, Harvey’s mother, expressed her shock and upset at the time, and the Metropolitan Police later issued an apology to her family.
In addition to the offensive content about Price, the group chat allegedly contained racist remarks about Chinese people. Ehikioya is accused of warning Francisco on 1 April 2019 to stop sharing inappropriate content, though Francisco later dismissed the warning in an exchange that included jokes and “April Fool” remarks.
The misconduct hearing, which began on Tuesday, will continue until 10 January. Ehikioya denies the allegations, claiming that the messages were either fabricated or falsely attributed to him due to his race and position within the MBPA. Until the hearing concludes, he has been placed on restricted duties.
